Our Spiritual Friends who give us spiritual advice, support and inspiration are our Sangha.
Be part of our Community
The Tara KMC community is made up of the many people who live, work, study, visit and volunteer here. From local people calling in for the free lunchtime meditations, to our international team of volunteers who staff the World Peace Cafe, everyone benefits from the warm and friendly atmosphere and the peaceful environment.
Tara KMC is dedicated to the peace and happiness of all living beings and there are many ways that you can be part of our community. Why not drop in for a free class, or come to an inspiring talk or event?
We particularly welcome local people who wish to volunteer even a few hours a week. Your kind support helps us to offer all our meditation classes and to care for the centre and grounds so that everyone can enjoy this special blessed place. If you would like to be a volunteer at Tara KMC please contact email@example.com for more information. There is no need to be a Buddhist to be involved. Everyone is welcome at Tara KMC.
A working visit is a great way to experience life in a Modern Buddhist community, and get a taste of meditation and introduction to Buddha’s teachings. We are an international community and welcome volunteers of all ages and beliefs.
In exchange for 5 days work you will get 7 days accommodation and vegetarian or vegan meals provided. You are very welcome to attend meditation classes and courses free as part of your visit so long as this fits with your work duties.
The work on offer includes cooking, cleaning, gardening, maintenance or working in the on-site World Peace Cafe. If you have any specific skills that you would like to offer we would love to hear about them.
During your free time you can enjoy the peaceful and beautiful environment of Tara KMC, join any courses running here at that time or explore the local Derbyshire Countryside.
Living at Tara KMC is the ideal way to connect with all the practices of Modern Buddhism. We have a warm and welcoming and diverse community with lay and ordained practitioners. We welcome single people, couples and families to come and be full-time residents at Tara Centre.
There are many benefits to living at a Dharma Centre:
An opportunity to thoroughly immerse oneself in the spiritual life of the centre Being part of a Bodhisattva family working to benefit others Forming deep Sangha friendships Learning new skills Helping Dharma to flourish Opportunities to cherish others in many different ways
Every resident attends a study programme: General Programme (GP), Foundation Programme (FP) or Teacher Training Programme (TTP).
We are currently fitting out new ensuite rooms suitable for single people and couples. Please contact Jane Chan, our Admin Director, firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
If you are interested in becoming a resident we suggest you stay for a working visit first.
