CLEAR LIGHT OF BLISS RETREAT
A Post Summer Festival retreat based on the uncommon Mahamudra instructions that come from Je Tsongkhapa given at the International Summer Festival 2022.

This retreat will allow practitioners to gain some experience of the extraordinary Mahamudra meditations that guide us to transforming our very subtle mind into the clear light of bliss, which is the actual inner path to our potential, full enlightenment. Our very subtle mind – our Buddha nature – is very precious like a priceless jewel, but we cannot recognise it unless we engage in special methods to do this. These are the meditations this retreat will concentrate upon.

Taking the instructions from Ven Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s book ‘Clear Light of Bliss’ and from the instructions given at the Summer Festival 2022 teachings, Gen Lekma will guide the retreat so we can gain some experience of these beautiful meditations that have profound results.

As Buddha said “If you realise your own mind, you will become a Buddha, you should not seek Buddhahood elsewhere”.

The Teacher

Gen Kelsang Lekma, a close disciple of the founder of our tradition, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, is our Resident Teacher. She’s a senior Buddhist nun with nearly 30 years of teaching and meditation experience who has taught in the UK and the US for much of this time.

Gen Lekma is a very popular teacher and her clear, lighthearted and often entertaining talks express the path of wisdom and meditation in a way that most people of the modern world can relate to. She’s greatly cherished by her students for her warm, light and wise example.

The venue

Tara International Kadampa Retreat Centre is set in 38 acres of parkland and gardens in rural Derbyshire, the ideal setting for a quiet and relaxing retreat.

Staying onsite during the retreat offers the best opportunity to absorb yourself fully in the retreat experience. Minimum booking period for the guided retreats is one week.

In-person with accommodation

There are four accommodation options: single en-suite, single, shared room and a 2-bed apartment with kitchen and small office. A single en-suite is £350 in total. A single is £275. A twin en-suite is £425 (cost per room not per person), a 2-bed apartment (max 2 people) is £550, a shared room is £200. A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place. The remaining 75% balance can be paid on or before arrival.

Included in the residential package are accommodation, meals and education fee. Meals are vegetarian or vegan only, we regret we are unable to cater for any other specific dietary needs. Please specify in the booking notes your preference.
